Embalming Department

Embalming and preservation of the cadaver is done using a special mixture of ethanol with a very small amount of formalin. The mobile embalming table is extracted and all fumes are lead into an in-house extraction system. The actual perfusion is done with a „PerfuTek“ pump system with adjustable pressure. Following this procedure the cadaver is placed for a certain time into the extracted tank with preservation fluid. After the total embalming procedure the cadavers are stored in an airtight plastic bag inside the cold rooms. Explosion proof regulations have to be followed.

Installation: Anatomy Department at the University of Trondheim / Norway.

The demand of the user / planner was the very fast storage of appr. 100 cadavers in connection with a large dissecting / obduction room and floor scale for weight recording. Automatic loading / unloading of cadavers is done by electrically operated lifters.

The demand of the users / planners was the storage of 76 cadavers for student dissecting / gross anatomy classes. After the total embalming procedure the cadavers are stored in an airtight plastic bag inside the cold rooms. Explosion proof regulations have to be followed.

Installation: RMV Gothenborg / Sweden.

The demand of the users was to install a combination of an autopsy table and a separate dissecting table. Both tables are fume extracted. The special design of the autopsy table was a smooth, none-perforated worktop with rinse direct into the sink. The extraction was positioned below the worktop of the table by means of perforation and the fumes are lead through the pedestal of the table into the inhouse extraction system. Two air supply units at the ceiling of the room deliver sufficient air volume towards the tables. This world novum guarantees no liquid to enter the air extraction system. The dissecting table is extracted in a standard way by a perforated work area. Dissecting is done on a cutting board. Both tables are height adjustable and very sturdy due to high workload.

Installation:

The extracted and mobile demonstration tables guarantee an odor-free environment during demonstration and grossing procedures. The docking station is stationary and contains ductwork for the extraction which, in this example, is lead through the floor into the outside atmosphere. Odor filters may be used to avoid the exposure of bad smelling air outside of the building.
